Galleri Sonja / NORM Architects

January 1, 2026 Valeria Silva 0

On the northern tip of Bornholm, in the small coastal town of Allinge, lies Galleri Sonja – a new café, shop, and gallery shaped by the island’s rugged coastline and deeply rooted craft traditions. Designed by Norm Architects, the space grew from a shared ambition: to create an environment that celebrates simplicity, tactility, and the quiet beauty of natural materials. The result is a place where art, design, and everyday rituals merge. A sanctuary for calm reflection and sensory connection.

This renovation of the Le Labo Daikanyama store marks our second project with the brand, following the Kyoto Machiya. Le Labo’s Daikanyama boutique – its first location outside the U.S.- was renovated for the first time in 18 years, guided by the brand’s desire to bring the craft of fresh fragrance blending to the forefront within the spatial design, and ensuring the boutique integrates seamlessly into the Tokyo streetscape.

Pregame Concept Store and Bar / ATELIER ASTIL

Pre Game is an immersive concept store, restaurant, and bar in Heart of Bangalore, envisioned as a sculpted, maze-inspired interior that transforms a structurally challenging shell into a continuous, cavern-like spatial narrative. Drawing from Egyptian cave formations, subterranean passages, and ancient excavation logics, the project reinterprets primordial spatiality through contemporary material innovation and an experiential architectural language. The experience unfolds through the concept store, which acts as the first threshold of the “cave.” Curated products are displayed within carved niches, recessed bands, and sculpted voids.

Pillar of Zen — DANNONG Store / LUO studio

December 21, 2025 Andreas Luco 0

The orthogonal timber frame has long been the primary structural prototype for nearly all functional building types in the East—from halls and temples to dwellings. Shanxi, as one of the most important regions for the preservation of ancient Chinese timber architecture, retains many precious examples such as Nanchan Temple and Foguang Temple. These surviving entities embody the deep cultural lineage of traditional Eastern architecture. DANNONG, a clothing brand grounded in an inner Eastern sensibility, already operates many stores. Yet in the capital of Shanxi, how should garments be presented in space? How should the store grow in resonance with the region’s architectural heritage? These questions became the starting point of the design.

The Webster / Adjaye Associates

The Webster’s latest flagship store in Los Angeles is a new 11,000 square feet ground-up retail development adjacent to the historic Los Angeles Beverly Center. Juxtaposed beneath the monolithic eight story structure, The Webster elegantly asserts itself as a sculptural and experiential counterpoint to the Beverly Center’s retail experience. The cantilevered concrete facade references and reimagines the brutalist shell of the original existing building and is injected with a pink dye—an ode to the luminosity of California, where the Pacific light naturally amplifies saturated colors.

Fluted Volume / Studio UF+O

November 13, 2025 Pilar Caballero 0

On the high streets of Indian cities, retail showrooms often compete for attention with gleaming chandeliers, advertisement boards, and ornate façades. Fluted Volume, the 7,000 sq. ft. headquarters for a jewellery brand in Vijayawada, takes a radically different stance. Designed by Vineet Vora and Prachi Parekh of Studio Urban Form + Objects, the building asserts itself as a terracotta-hued monolith: at once sculptural, reticent, and quietly authoritative amid the cityscape. Its form emerges from a paradox that lies at the heart of the brief: how to create a building that must be visible to the public, invite footfall, and embody the brand’s identity.
