Colourful Interiors That Feel Like Spring & Summer

If the world outside the window is dreary, make your interior into an eternal spring or summer extravaganza of colour, pattern and uplifting energy. Forget the oppressively grey city streets that surround, pull in a rush of florals and botanical prints that free you from the humdrum reality to make your soul sing. This is your home, you can have it anyway you like it. Here, the homeowners of our two featured interiors have done exactly that. With the help of AR 1 Studio, fabulous artwork, adventurous furniture collections and experimental clashes of colour join together to build spectacularly unique spaces that feel like a holiday, everyday.

Spring colours uplift our first featured home interior, where a burst of brights explode across an open living room dining room combo.

Pattern further invigorates the energised colour palette, playfully elevating an assortment of sofa scatter cushions, dining chairs and a graphic round rug.

Lilac walls set a warm backdrop around the lounge area, whilst the kitchen is zoned in green.

A round coffee table lays down a mulberry accent in the centre of the room, which is complemented by colour coordinated pillows.

Yellow accents form a cohesive thread throughout the open layout, transitioning into a metallic yellow gold in the kitchen and in smaller, decorative pieces.

A cobalt blue media unit richly contrasts with the purple TV wall.

Unique dining room pendant lights descend in a trio along the length of the dining peninsula.

An ornate gold support leg links the luxe metallic accent.

A warming golden glow shines from a wine glass storage unit that has been built-in by the dining table. Lush greenery springs from its crown to accentuate the colourway of the kitchen cabinets.

Bird and botanical print dining chair upholstery conjures further connection with nature.

Golden drawer fronts boost the bold green kitchen design.

Decorative vases mix dashes of green and yellow into the table centrepiece.

This 190 square metre interior in St. Petersburg, Russia, comes alive under experimental colour combinations. The customer asked to compensate for the lack of sunny days in the city with an interior decor painted with positive atmosphere “in which there will always be summer”.

The apartment is intended as an occasional city residence that can accommodate informal meetings with partners, as well as for use on vacation with family. The design team experimented with bright hues, contemporary paintings, decorative panels, and the spirit of travel and adventure.

The sophisticated homeowner did not want to see a typically premium wood, marble and brass concept, and instead desired an unexpected and surprising approach. A fantasy interpretation of natural stone was artistically executed across the TV wall to satisfy the unorthodox brief.

Whilst traditional wood and marble do make an appearance, the composition is fresh and original. The wood round pedestal dining table is encircled by amethyst and mustard dining chairs, creating a bold break from the norm.

A unique red glass pendant light forms an eye-catching sculptural element above the dining table. A colourful rug takes the red accent to the floor.

A black marble kitchen island is run through with striking white vein. Vivid mustard kitchen bar stools lift the monochrome look.

Behind the glossy black island, a pink kitchen builds an unexpected wall of colour. Walnut wall cabinets calm down the powerful aesthetic.

A glamorous garnet upholstered seat commends the square home entryway. A mauve sideboard contrasts with pale sage wall panels.

On the opposite side, a decorative wall mirror further widens the sense of space in the grand entryway.

Daring wall art, geometric wallpaper and parrot blue cabinet fronts colour the hallway toward the bedroom. Privacy was an essential consideration for the customer, and so this hallway separates the master bedroom from the common area as much as possible. Entrances to the guest volume and the laundry room are concealed within the entryway wall boiserie.

Deep blue bedroom decor is brightened with golden accents in throw pillows and a luxury end of bed bench.

Tubular bedroom pendant lights hang in threes over the bedside units. The bedstead is drawn forward from the window to allow soft grey drapes to fold softly to the floor behind a large upholstered headboard.

African wall art explodes a moment of red into the room, which richly complements the deep wood tone elements.

A plush yellow barrel chair is elegantly paired with a unique dressing table design that features a gold built-in planter.

In the bathroom, the mustard yellow accent theme lightens into a light lemon hue across a floating vanity unit. Metallic gold accents prevail across the trim of the sink unit and a wall mounted tallboy.

Smooth white marble walls and floor tiles maintain a high-end look.

A darker marble tile sharply zones off the shower area. A unique bathroom sink integrates into a sleek linear vanity countertop.

In the guest suite, a blue upholstered bed is contrasted by dusky pink, red and rose gold accessories and prints.

A modern blue dressing table climbs from the bedside.

Quirky artwork adds a humorous touch above the headboard.

Colourful notes drop upbeat energy around every turn.

A Hookah lounge has been included within the guest area, which can also be utilised as an office/meeting room.

Orange accents heat the cool blue guest bathroom.

A fierce tiger mural prowls the powder room.
