The project is located at the B2 Floor, Beijing Fun, Beijing Municipality, covering an area of 240 square meters. The client TEAWITH hopes to create a special fair space for the “New Craftsmen”, where the craftsmen can share their products and various lifestyles. From their points of view, pink is a kind of “free” color which has no labels, has nothing to do with age and is gender-neutral.

Kindergarten is a space that children create their dreams and imagination. Children bear unpredictable potential alike plain paper. Aggregation of growing cells generates uncompleted spatial expand without defining rigid form and space on architect’s own initiative. In other words, the white cube, the prime unit consisting of the classroom, are three-dimensionally stacked and the complete whole body of kindergarten. These cubic cells aim to contain the attribute of dematerialized space that material feature and morphological completion are eliminated.

Keperra is a post-war suburb North West of Brisbane CBD, once occupied by the military camps in the 1940’s and later with the development of Housing Commission in the 1950’s. The brief to add a detached sole occupant flat on the existing property presents an opportunity to rethink the typology of the secondary dwelling, commonly dubbed as the ‘granny flat’. The client’s downsize move to this new dwelling means the existing house is able to yield additional rental income.

“In Search of Balance”

Sited upon a coastal dune landscape, this residence seeks proportional balance. Balance between elemental exposure and domestic intimacy.
Balance between the natural and the manmade (in landscape, form, material, to color, texture, furnishings).
