The building takes its inspiration from the street where it takes place (Lebour) to generate an atmosphere like in a village. Located all around a remarkable and protected garden, the housing melts smoothly in the Montreuil urban grid. The subtle spanning and the use of natural materials contribute to the tranquility and harmony of the place.

The Naoshima Pavilion by Sou Fujimoto is one of the more recent additions to the world-renowned “Art Island,” and is located only meters away from Naoshima’s boat terminal (designed by SANAA). The lightweight, highly-transparent mesh-like steel structure was conceived and constructed for the 2016 Setouchi Triennial. Photographer Laurian Ghinitoiu has turned his lens to the project which, in spite of its modest size, casts a striking silhouette on the island’s coastline.

These tiny buildings are created specifically for the environment that they are in. Every design decision has been made to either enhance the experience of the surroundings or shield from it. The purpose of the cabins is to let the people staying in them come close to nature but in a comfortable way.

A house made of memories, composed of a narrative of spaces of different areas and proportions, with a high vaulted ceiling and a direct and effective connection between them. Several wounds and scars from the many uses of the space are visible at every moment, much deeper than the superficial remnants that the prolonged closure brings.
