In a decades-old established garden city, in the suburbs of Valencia, an old tennis court became a plot on which we were asked to build a single-family home. It offered us a flat terrain, with surrounding vegetation as a backdrop, a large tree, and an old underground warehouse that became a swimming pool.
The « Les Aulnes » project consists of 18 housing units divided into 6 buildings. Each plot was developed on 3 stories so, ground floor +2. Each level has an apartment with a stairwell on the northeast side. The living areas open onto loggias facing southwest and offer views of the vegetation and the canal.
In 2016, the City Council of Panevėžys agreed on a major renovation of the main city square. The main idea was to create an open space, encouraging the citizens of Panevėžys to engage in outdoor activities. The pre-existing condition of the square was not compatible with the dynamic vision of the 21st-century European city. Having access to Rail Baltica railway allows the city to position itself as a strong regional center with good business opportunities and high-level quality of life standards for all residents.
In an existing steel structure located at the entrance to the city of Nafplio, we were asked to design a modern bakery, food, and coffee station for the passer-by, visitors, and residents alike.
The story of this family home in Fiscavaig begins with our nearby project “The Hen House” which our clients had visited and were subsequently inspired to do something similar for themselves. The Hen House project was designed by Rural Design and completed in 2010. It was one of the first contemporary projects on the Isle of Skye to use innovative forms beyond the classic, pitched roof vernacular. In particular the use of a simple mono-pitch form.
Jakoba Mulderhuis is situated in a striking location, on the corner of Wibautstraat and Mauritskade, and by the edge of the historical inner city on the Singelgracht canal. Together with Benno Premselahuis, a listed building on the other side of Wibautstraat, Jakoba Mulderhuis forms a gateway to the city. The high-rise structures on both sides of the street lend the setting a monumental quality that connects the architectural elements in the vicinity. Jakoba Mulderhuis comprises a slimline tower (54 meters tall, 13 stories) and a low-rise block (33 meters, 6 stories) on Mauritskade. The positioning of the tower constitutes a work of art from an urban planning perspective. Widening Wibautstraat has created a compelling entrance to the city center.
Showroom for Independent optic experts. The main task wasn’t to create a classic optic store but to create space for independent design. The architecture of the interior refers to the materials from which the products are made. Since these are glasses that are made by hand from natural materials such as cotton acetate, architect Alan Prekop also used natural materials in the showroom.
The crematorium is located on a flat surface – in a field by the forest. The mass concept of the design is a rather sensitive manner – it represents a shallow hill rising from the surface. The crematorium is designed with a metaphor of a burial mound covered with white linen. The volume of the building and its access spaces are separated by embankments of the surrounding landscape. The structure of the roof is reminiscent of a ritual blank that covers architectural volume and tailors it into the surrounding ground. The crematorium building is visible from a distant perspective and becomes the epicenter of the ritual. It calmly invites and releases those who arrive. It is a place of emotional discharge and a quiet transformation subordinate to the eternal time and the experience of eternity.
From a bird’s-eye view, the layout of the clubhouse at the Kácov golf course is reminiscent of the leg of a giant golfer. The landscape along the River Sázava captivated investors so much that they decided to build a meeting place for fans of golf. The clubhouse that we worked on is the architectural centerpiece of a beautiful golf course.
During the energetic renovation of the 70s detached house, care was taken to preserve the existing structure as far as possible.
