This project was designed to occupy a plot located in a condominium near São Paulo, with a gentle slope, and led us to think of a single-story implantation with the residential program not grouped, to condition circulation as an outdoor route, covered yet open, as in the traditional veranda houses of our vernacular architecture. Although the path of the house is made introspectively, like a cloister, circling the internal perimeter of the roof that delimits the permeable area of the courtyard, the intention was to accentuate the relationship inside and outside, as the gaps between volumes act as windows to the external view, where the landscaping should be denser, with the aim, in addition to the act of contemplation, also to preserve the privacy of the residents without the need to create walls at the lot boundary.

The demand for youthful services in red tourist attractions. The project is located at the foot of Tianhua Mountain Scenic Area in Qingshanpu Town, Changsha County, Hunan Province. The scenic area is a 4A-level red tourist attraction, but the current supporting facilities are not perfect and lack attractiveness to young people. Therefore, the town government approached us, hoping that we could come up with a low-cost and attractive coffee and book shop plan that can attract young people to check in; On the other hand, because the project is located in the core area of the red scenic area, the appearance of the project must be coordinated and consistent with the local residences, which poses a core challenge for the design: how to balance the traditional style requirements of the “red” scenic area while also meeting the “internet celebrity” needs of young people? Simultaneously solving all buildings, interiors, soft furnishings, and landscapes within a cost of several hundred thousand yuan?

Bandhan Residential School of Business / Abin Design Studio

Micro initiatives are turned into enduring assets by an unconventional take on traditional practices in the Bandhan School of Business. Weaving a romance of the connection between the site and the architect, it represents that between the sky and the water, there is “material”, which is Earth, and the architecture borrows from the contextual landscape of this earth to showcase the context it sits in, rather than standing out from it – it rather creates a frame to emphasize the natural views. The form is conceived as masses and voids carved out of the mounds.

Located in Leiria, the São Romão Radical Park, with an area of approximately 2,265m2, was one of the forgotten places in the city of Leiria, only used by children and, occasionally, BMX riders. Opened in 2006, the park had obsolete equipment, wear and tear and damage caused by intense use and the natural aging of its building materials.

The family of the current owner has lived on this site for several generations. The site is located along the approach to a renowned shrine and on the edge of a plateau in Yushima, Tokyo. In recent years, numerous hotels in the area have been replaced by apartment complexes, resulting from a rapid transformation of the area’s character. Two complexities of the site have been significant factors for the design–the shape of the plot and the lighting conditions resulting from high-rise buildings surrounding it from three directions. By wrapping a curved volume around a central void, each residential unit obtains light, wind, and views.
