Surrounded by wetlands and forests, the Tianfu New Area is located along south of the Tianfu Avenue, the central axis of Chengdu. With fields, shallow hills, woodlands and rivers around， Chengdu Tianfu City Planning Hall is lighted perched on a wetland hill, blending in with nature. It will become the distinctive identity of Tianfu New Area.
Aranya Hidden Place Hotel overlooks the Golden Coast at Qinhuangdao. This project is accommodated in a 5-story building in the Aranya community. PLAT ASIA atelier d was designated for the hotel’s interior design. It arranged 180 guest rooms with all bath pools, a multifunctional lobby, an all-day restaurant, a banquet hall, SPA, a meditation area, and so on. This hotel creates a distinction from urban daily life, which is fast-speed, high-density, and over-information, but a hospitality space that restores the spirits and makes an experience gaining new energy for life. The all-bath-pool-themed hotel explores an immersed journey both in a mental and physical sense. A wander in the teahouse-like lobby evokes the belongings captured in the memory of a time-space trip.
Project Overview – The circular city observation platform facing the sea is located in the coastal center of Nanshan District, Shenzhen. It is adjacent to the coastal activity lawn in the south, the public parking lot in the north, the intelligent fitness area for citizens in the east, and the landscape tree array and hard ground square in the west. It is set off in the coastal landscape belt of Shenzhen Bay Park about 13 kilometers long, with convenient transportation and a good coastal landscape. As a public building demolished and rebuilt at the original site, its basic functions include public toilets and shower rooms that are open to tourists in the park all day long. It is an improvement of public welfare design for the public toilets in Haifeng Sports Square of Shenzhen Bay Park and has served the surrounding citizens and visitors since May 1, 2023.

Project Summary – MDO’s project is the transformation of a canal-side Qing Dynasty Post Office into a dynamic community social hub. Our approach combines sensitive renovation techniques with modern upgrades to create a space that celebrates the tradition of information sharing and brings the history of the postal service to life for a new generation. By preserving the building’s original features and integrating new elements, we have successfully revitalized the post office into an exhibition, museum, café, and lecture space, fostering community engagement and cultural exchange.
Yucun Impression Youth Library is located in Anjiyu Village, Zhejiang, the birthplace of the “two mountains” concept of “green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains”. The two preserved factory buildings bear witness to the green development path of Yucun from “industrial birds” to “ecological pastoral”. The project was officially completed in June 2022. After its opening, Yucun Impression Youth Library integrates multiple functions to become the most dynamic and creative rural place.
Forget time, heal your life with architecture – This project is located on Hainan Island, which boasts a long coastline and vast, lush vegetation. Waterfrom Design believes that the future community center, which is currently a sales center, should serve as a hub for connecting nature/civilization, coast/land, and traditional/modern lifestyles. The goal is not just to design a space, but to create a spiritual destination like an island gathering place, characterized by a venue that welcomes a wide range of life experiences.
Yulin Alley is located at Yulin Sanxiang, Chengdu, Sichuan, China. The area of Yulin was built in the 1980s and 1990s. In the past decades, apartments built in different periods were connected by paths, and the integration of old and new buildings gradually formed the present Yulin, which has its own temperament – the air of the marketplace. The charm of Yulin may start from its old age. Yulin East Road in Yulin Street is facing the same problems as most old urban areas, with aging houses, dilapidated greenery, narrow roads, and lack of public space, increasingly unable to meet the needs of residents’ public life. In such an old urban area with tight conditions, whether we can effectively organize and utilize the remaining space in the blind spots of urban planning is the first topic we face. As a community public space, how to realize its openness and sustainability is the second issue we face.
“As we ascended Dapi Mountain for the first time, we encountered endless rocks, moss-covered grounds, guiding pine trees, and a series of ancient temples. Standing amidst the ancient temple cluster on the site, we deeply felt that the new construction would inevitably play a secondary role, integrating itself humbly into the millennia-old historical ambiance.”
