From New York to Rome, London to Cape Town and beyond, these city mash-ups blend distinct architecture and attractions to create truly unique imagined destinations. Expedia recently launched a series of campaigns that would inspire travelers by showcasing destinations from different perspectives and unique angles. They took 14 famous cities and combined their architectural DNA into 7 unique hybrid, mash-up cities.

Groosman has carefully fitted the design for the new Park and Ride into the natural surroundings. The parking garage, made of natural materials, is completely surrounded by greenery and its volume is kept as small as possible whilst maintaining the 582 parking spaces. Through its rounded form the parking garage fits perfectly into the station area of Driebergen-Zeist.

Feldman Architecture designs San Francisco home with rooftop garden and indoor swing

San Francisco firm Feldman Architecture has completed a townhouse in the city with contrasting front and back facades, and a metal-framed staircase that hosts an indoor swing. Spanning four levels, the residence’s grey-coloured front facade and double-height entry hints at the home’s contemporary interiors, while nodding to the more traditional, monochrome townhouses in the neighbourhood.

Lattice Book House / Scenic Architecture Office

Supported by freestanding steel lattice structure walls, a group of platforms float in the trees with various heights. A bending stair links all the platforms and brings people to every space in diversified locations and sizes. Relying on the platforms, these spaces are interrelated and open to each other. The steel lattice wall and glass curtain, which are both transparent, blur the layer boundaries between platforms and interior/exierior.
