Casa Copa came from the crop of projects that were “born” and developed in Quarantine, during the Corona Virus Pandemic. The contact with customers was made by telephone. The meeting with the design and development team, and also the presentation of the draft, were made via zoom. Our team designed the house project and our construction company continued with the work. That was a difficult time with social distancing and with all the difficulties that came together.

In its fourth participation at CASACOR SP, one of the largest exhibitions of architecture, interior design, and landscaping in the Americas, NJ+ architects present the project of a complete residence, with 200 m² (125 m² of house and 75 m² of garden), honoring Brazilian ceramics, highlighting the heritage of the country’s ancient potteries and the importance of handcrafted work in architecture. The event, which will be held from September 21st to November 15th at Parque Mirante, an annex of Allianz Parque, has the theme ‘The Original House’.

There is always a cup of ocean for man to sail in. This verse, written in 1952 by Jorge de Lima, a Brazilian poet from the northern state of Alagoas, was featured on the poster of the 29th Art Biennial of São Paulo. Now more than ever, its interpretation suggests a breath of fresh air in a time of new beginnings.

The project’s program was simple: the main room (table, stretcher and small exercise area) and a waiting room. The client wanted the office to have good sound insulation, so we needed to have both rooms compartmentalized. We lengthened the waiting room from the entrance until we reached the limit for the forecast of a receptionist’s table. 

The architectural design of Estúdio Lapinha was conceived to be executed in two stages. The first was the construction of a modular housing inside two containers, exhibited at CASACOR Minas 2021. The second will be completed after its disassembly and reassembly in Lapinha da Serra, where it will serve as accommodation.

While exercising the practice of architecture, we often resort to memories we’ve lived through. Memories that, when confronted with certain circumstances, help build our imagination in a way that results in the composition of a certain spatiality of form and matter.

The essence of this specific project was based on initially, identify the particularities of the surroundings of flat ground with not very generous dimensions, and then extract the maximum of it taking advantage of the highest level of the condominium. The concept idea was the primordial element that was responsible to guarantee the valorization of preserved green areas, in the core of the site, providing direct interaction with the flora. 

A one-story house is a luxury for a city like São Paulo, whose real estate pressure almost always leads to building the maximum amount allowed for the lot. With that in mind, this reform project starts from the exploration of this virtue that is given to us at first.
