Residential project for a family of 5 people, who likes nature, silence, and peace. The contact and vision of green were fundamental. The Family would like free spaces and a lot of integration between all rooms. Another fundamental item of the project was the presence of art in every corner of the house.

Minas’ House / MACh Arquitetos

Casa das Minas is a residential house located in the district of Caieras, near Ouro Preto, a historical city of the 18th century, listed as a World Heritage by UNESCO. Immersed in a densely wooded region, the house resembles a refuge in the forest, although it was built as a permanent residence.

Bento House / FCstudio

Like a metallic container placed above exposed concrete walls, this house establishes two types of relationships with the surroundings. The upper floor can be closed 100% to block sunlight, guarantee the privacy and acoustically isolate intimate spaces. But, if chosen, the facade opens at strategic points for lighting and ventilation.

As the premise for the project of this single-family dwelling, there is an evident need to integrate it into a special landscape and environmental setting, where the presence of nature and the development of the territory plays a dominant role in defining the visual frameworks and directly influence the architectural approach. The close dialogue with the surroundings is explored here, taking advantage of the unique and diversified panoramic views over the bay and city of Lagos, the town and ria of Alvor, and also over the Odiáxere mountain range.

Rachel de Queiroz Park / Architectus S/S

In the early hours of the morning, the movement begins. Regulars in gym clothes choose to start the day by practicing some kind of physical activity. Walking, running, outdoor gym, biking, soccer, and volleyball are just some of the options available. All this takes place on the shores of nine interconnected lagoons, the wetlands. This is just a brief summary of what can be found in the first stage of the Parque Rachel de Queiroz project.

São José do Barreiro House / Vão

The design challenges of the São José do Barreiro house were not linked to the development of a daring structure or even sophisticated technical detailing. Nor should the greater effort be credited to the manipulation of the wind, the directing of natural light, and the framing of the landscape – even though these are fundamental strategies for the conception of its spatiality.
