The volumetric organization of this project encourages the biological and recreational continuity between the Serra de les Ferreres zone and the Llobregat Agricultural Park in Gavà, Catalonia, complementing the longitudinal circulation with new transversal links that facilitate access to the block. Opening the interior corners of the complex prevents potentially insecure dead zones, while the staggered buildings adapt to the natural slope of the plot.

A San Francisco family asked us to help them expand an existing property near Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The site sits on a north-facing slope and looks down to the Martis Valley and up to Lookout Mountain through a natural screen of 100-year-old Jeffrey pine trees. In our world today, much of the built work is driven by visual appearance. Symbolic forms and arbitrary material deployment remind us of our history. Usually, these collages of comfort for the eye ignore their contexts that should affect the work in a tangible way. Wooden, furniture-like houses built in an ever-expanding migration to the wild lands that are at risk of fire appear to thumb their noses at the danger and the sun and the wind.

Café House is located in the middle of the cerrado, in the interior of Brazil. A place with a rural landscape, where the image of red earth and twisted tree trunks predominates. Whereas in all of Brazil’s territory, coffee is an invitation to a long conversation.

Food shapes our cities. How we eat and where we shop is crucial to the health and resilience of people and the entire ecosystem. The food and climate crises and deepening social stratification should push us towards solutions that shorten supply chains and facilitate fair access to healthy and inexpensive food. Bazaars offering local agricultural products strengthen the city’s resilience and equal opportunities for healthy and low-cost food for all social groups, strengthening micro-entrepreneurship and neighborly ties.

Chacakul House / 0studio Arquitectura

Casa Chacakul is located on a unique site on the coast of Nayarit, Mexico. Its design was conceived under a simple and elegant linear plan. With two solid forms connected by a bridge that acts by itself as a link between both volumes with the help of a brick lattice. The client’s request for a specific program helped us divide the public areas between the ground level and the private areas on the second level.

Afshar Residential Building / Ayeneh Office

The Afshar family residential complex is located in the dense urban context of Tehran. Before the client offered us the project, the structure was ordered and almost ready to be fixed. We made some voids and revised the project in terms of the patio’s meaning. As parents, the clients wanted the complex to include three houses, One larger house for themselves and two houses for their children. On the first three floors, two duplex units are designed, and the two last levels are allocated to the parents, so a common neighborhood space was essential; meanwhile, the southern alley was not wide and unable to offer a spectacular view, which led to the formation of the most important architectural decision of the project: creating introverted houses neighboring each other with a strong connection with the northern yard.

Almudena & Paco Atelier-House / DTR_studio

Designing a house studio for a painter is nothing new for our office. In fact, we feel especially comfortable with this type of project. Even more so if it is the home of the famous artist Paco Pomet, a surrealist painter who depicts scenes with a fine sense of humor and which Banksy himself set for his Dismaland exhibition.
