The design process when planning a head office for a municipal energy company can differ significantly depending on whether the location is an anonymous metropolitan structure, greenfield land, or – as in this case – a 2000-year-old city like Regensburg, whose city center was included in the 2006 UNESCO World Heritage List.
Founded in 1142 and nestled within the vineyard-lined basin of the Eisack valley near Bressanone (Italy), the abbey not only represents one of the most significant architectural ensembles in South Tyrol today but also stands as a preeminent Augustinian Abbey of its time. In historical Amsterdam, the office building De Walvis on Bickerseiland has been stripped down to its bones and completely revitalised by KAAN Architecten. The client Maarsen Groep requested a “hip and industrial feel” that would leave everyone in awe and fit with their envisaged future tenants from the advertising, media, and tech sector. Confident interventions in the structure have resulted in a sleek and elegant sculptural form.
The “Les Hauts de Sévigné” development project, led by the Launay Group, is located between the Rennes-Paris railroad line, the Route de Paris, and the Rigourdière business park. This sector at the entrance to the city is today mainly composed of activities. Eventually, it will be home to approximately 650 housing units and 12,000 m2 of business floor space.
The project was launched with the ambitious objective of transforming a former coal-mining area into a landscape park, which is not only a model for the landscape design that is so essential in China, but also contains a building infrastructure that can be used for researching into and offering people access to and information about natural ecosystems. One Hundred is a residential tower overlooking Forest Park in St. Louis. The tower, Studio Gang’s first project in the city, will rise to over 380 feet and include retail, amenities, parking, and residential apartments with views of the park to the west and the Gateway Arch to the east.
The building hosts a new audiovisual pole that offers a powerful tool allowing a synergy between RTBF Charleroi and Télésambre. It works the duality of the program between the bubbling workplace of the newsrooms and the will of transparency of the media towards their public.
The Maison Berri project is located near the Jean-Talon market in Villeray, at the heart of the hustle and bustle of a sought-after neighbourhood of Montreal. The house that Sophie and Shawn had found, which was devoid of any architectural language after successive modifications, had to be completely redone to accommodate their family. The decision to demolish the existing home was a quick one due to the deteriorated state of the property as well as the sunken structure. Not to mention that the exceptionally small Montreal lot offered little to no space for a front- or backyard.
