Botanica House / Guz Architects

July 4, 2019 Martita Vial 0

The client requested an exciting dynamic house that made the most of the spectacular steeply sloping site which overlooked the world heritage site of the botanic gardens. The clients brief was very much an organic process, in the making, with rooms being added as the design developed. This made it hard to maintain a coherent design, so constant rationalisation of the spaces and the overall massing was a continual process.

‘HHH’ House / Simple Projects Architecture

‘HHH’ house was inspired by our childhood memories and perception of a house to begin with. As a kid, we often picture a house with a single triangular roof (pitch roof) on top of a square wall with a door and a window, and we were inspired by these basic shapes and unpretentious materials used on the houses we have seen when we were young. A vision of a simple home with cozy ambiance is the space quality that we would like to offer.

Botanic Museum Cafeteria / arche708

Botanic Museum has a free space which will be created by users themselves. A cafeteria is designed as one of facilities which had to be involved legally in an arboretum at the end of the mountain Bongdongsan in Jinhae, South Korea. As time goes by, stories filling up the space are ever-changing. Spaces are born, grow and disappear when they become too old to fulfill their functions. We thought the existed compost shed has a great meaning, if it doesn’t disappear but lengthens its life with new function, even though its surround site becomes to have different use.

Sheraton Moon Hotel is located next to Nan Tai Lake in Huzhou, a city situated west of Shanghai and north of Hangzhou, overlooking Suzhou and Wuxi across the lake. Since ancient times, Huzhou has been known as “the house of silk” and “the land of plenty” and is the only ancient city of culture in the surrounding area named after the lake. The favorable cultural and geographical environment brings both traditional and modern atmospheres to the hotel, distinguished by its unique design which integrates the building into the waterscape of Tai Lake, subsequently creating a poetic yet artificial echo of the natural landscape.

Jungle house / CplusC Architectural Workshop

Built within a rejuvenated heritage façade of rendered masonry, steel, timber and greenery, the Welcome to the Jungle House is situated in an inner-city heritage conservation area typified by late Victorian row terrace housing and post-industrial warehouse conversions. A two-storey shop top house in disrepair and close to collapse originally occupied the 90sqm triangular site. The original spackled rendered masonry façade had cultural and streetscape significance to the local heritage conservation area and its necessary reconstruction was managed under strict heritage controls.

Space of No Use Showroom / Kosaku Matsumoto

June 26, 2019 Martita Vial 0

The renovation of a small retail space previously used as a barber in Shirokane, Minato Ward did not occur with any particular request from the owner: except that the location will be used as an apparel showroom several times a year. In addition, the existing walls and ceiling of the space was made in plasterboard, with linoleum floor covering. In order to discover more from this banal space that has no particular feature or use, I decided to proceed and redesign the space while staying on site.
