House B / APB Oficina de Projetos

February 29, 2024 Clara Ott 0

One of the most incredible houses in the city appeared as a gift to us. Of post-modern architecture, dating back to the 80s, it was intact, with all its original features: wooden floors, granite, marble, accessories, and fixtures, and the entire structure in exposed concrete. It fits perfectly with the idea the clients desired for Casa B/. We found in the house itself the solutions for the project’s concept and sought to go further, highlighting all the potential it offered us. The concept: the house would continue to be a home for the clients, cozy and welcoming.

The project involves designing and constructing a house on the Argentine coast, specifically on a plot with a very particular topography. This terrain features a sand dune, a natural accumulation of sand common in coastal areas. Instead of viewing this dune as an obstacle, the project was based on harnessing this unique feature of the land to our advantage.

Zatoka House / Studio Arkhitekton

This vacation house is designed in complete harmony with nature and built by the owners and local community, aiming not to defy its surroundings but rather to integrate that nature into the structure itself. Natural materials of local origin were used throughout the construction process. The house itself is very close to the local quarry where majority of the materials for the house came from. Also, landscaping was mostly done with gravel and stones from the same place and acacia trees from the nearby woods. The outdoor furniture is nothing more that two elm three cut during the building process.

Beyond-the-family Kin is a platform for empowering aging. It operates within a network of infrastructures shaping a renewed social movement for aging in place. Countering the increasing isolation of older residents or their subjection to institutionalized forms of residence, the project hosts diverse forms of care across generations beyond the nuclear family both within and outside the house and furnishes technological and financial strategies supporting the life of its occupants.
