Bamboo is evergreen plant that is also very often used in the construction and furniture making industry. Bamboo’s are between the fastest-growing plants in the world, due to a unique rhizome-dependent system. Certain bamboo types grow 91 cm (3 ft) within a 24-hour period, at a rate of almost 4 cm (1.5 in) an hour. There are also giant bamboos as the largest members of the grass family. Bamboos are very important economic and cultural significance in the areas where they grow: South Asia, Southeast Asia and East Asia.
Bamboo and Its Wide Use
They are used as building materials, as a food source, and as a versatile raw product. Bamboo has a higher specific compression strength than wood, brick, or concrete and a specific tensile strength that rivals steel.
